What a weekend. College friend who has been living in Japan the last two years came to visit. Started at a way too trendy sushi club that happened to "run out of alcohol" during the open bar (oh really?), only to make oue way to some sort of political protest concert/dance party/gathering at the Viaduct (with an accordion/trumpet/bass drum band who knew how to throw down) and vendors urging you to resist capitalism by purchasing glitter spray-painted baseball caps, henna tattoos or homemade shirts. Some of the photos for sale were actually quite cool though... Off next to a Russian dance club on the outskirts of the city with a nearly empty dance floor, awkward go-go dancers, and women still wearing the garb of the 80s dancing to Guns'n'Roses and Justin Timberlake. But of course the night wouldn't have been complete without a 4 am stop at Golden Nugget. Heuvos Rancheros (or whatever the hell I inhaled) was not my friend... Perhaps it was thanks to that wise meal choice I spent most of today in a state of sickness I would not wish on those who annoy me most (ok, well, maybe a few...). Trusty kittie hung out with me though, and I took the time to watch Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and many episodes of King of the Hill. Here's hoping for a healthier Monday...
